I’m a Clarington parent with two children in KPR classrooms. I’m running for trustee to make sure every program shows whether it’s working for students.
Meet Pranay
When I talk about crowded schools, long bus rides or a child waiting for support, I’m describing the school day my own family lives.
None of this is new to me. When I first ran in 2022, I spoke about schools keeping pace with Clarington’s growth and better transportation. I kept raising math and literacy after that election, and I’ve stayed involved ever since.
I’m running for trustee with the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board because parents deserve to be heard, students deserve the support they actually need, and the board that makes these decisions should be able to show its work.

As founder and president, I bring local families together through cultural, educational and community initiatives. Our blood donation drives have collected 93 units since 2023.

For more than 14 years in financial services and technology, my job has been checking whether systems do what they promise before people rely on them.
My priorities
Stronger math and literacy, with results we can actually see.
The 2024-25 EQAO results show KPR's math achievement trailing the Ontario average in Grades 3, 6 and 9, by roughly 6 to 10 percentage points. Our teachers are doing the work. The question belongs at the board table: the programs exist, so why isn't the gap closing?
What I’ll push for:
Identifying the schools and students who need more support, and measuring whether each intervention works
Preparing students for high school, post-secondary education and employment
Public reporting on math and literacy results that parents can find and understand
Faster, better support for the students who need it most.
Every child should get the support they need, not just what the system currently has capacity to provide. No trustee can hire staff alone, so I’ll make the case with evidence and bring fellow trustees and the Minister of Education on board. What I’ll push for:
More educational assistants, plus speech and language supports where classrooms need them
Timely assessments, IEPs followed through in the classroom, and faster communication with parents
Inclusion that works for the student receiving support and for the class around them
Schools that keep pace with a growing Clarington.
A building is only part of the answer. Newcastle’s new JK to Grade 12 school, funded in 2025, will still need teachers, education workers, special education support and busing in place before it can properly serve students. What I’ll push for:
Clear public timelines for new schools and additions, with staffing and busing planned alongside construction
Reporting on crowding and portable use, and future school sites protected as new neighbourhoods are planned
Long-term plans for maintenance and accessibility at older schools
Mental health, bullying prevention and belonging.
Well-being, belonging and mental health decide whether a student is able to learn at all. When a child doesn’t want to go to school, families should know who to call and how quickly help will come. What I’ll push for:
Faster access to school-based mental health, social and emotional supports
Bullying prevention, safe school environments and support for students who are pulling away from school
Better coordination with families and community organizations, and continuing to ask students how safe and welcome they feel
Shorter rides, better reliability, and answers when a bus is cancelled.
For many Clarington families, the bus is the first and last hour of the school day. On the Durham Region Transit Advisory Committee, I voted to make transparent communication with residents a key priority. KPR families deserve the same. What I’ll push for:
Reliability numbers published by KPR and its transportation partners, and parents told sooner when a bus is late or cancelled
A closer look at long rides, rural routes and school start and end times
Safe walking programs where families want them
Every education dollar connected to student outcomes.
Whether you live in Courtice, Bowmanville, Newcastle or anywhere across KPR, you deserve trustees who can clearly explain what the board is doing, why it matters to students and what results to expect. If I can’t explain it to a parent, I won’t vote for it. What I’ll push for:
A close watch on classroom resources, special education and staffing
Careful review of school maintenance, technology and capital planning
